HEARTH · NEW

Your media,
served from home.

Turn the movies, series and music on your computer into a beautiful streaming library on your phone and TV — private, on your own network, with none of your files leaving home.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps, five minutes.

1

Install Hearth on your computer

A small app for macOS, Windows and Linux. No server knowledge needed — if you can install an app, you can run Hearth.

2

Point it at your media

Pick a folder — movies, series and music can all live together. Hearth organises everything automatically with posters, descriptions and episode names, and never moves or renames a single file.

3

Pair your phone or TV

Open the Hearth tab in Combust Media, and your computer shows up by itself. Enter a one-time PIN and start watching.

WHAT YOU GET

Plex-simple, Combust-native.

A real library, not a file list

Posters, descriptions, ratings and episode names — your folder of files becomes a catalogue that looks like a streaming service.

Movies, series & music

Films with quality variants, shows organised by season, albums with cover art. Mixed folders are fine — Hearth sorts it out.

Plays on your devices

The Combust Media apps on iPhone, Android and Android TV stream straight from your computer, converting on the fly when needed.

Private by design

Everything stays on your own network. Your files are never uploaded anywhere, and every device is paired with a PIN you approve.

Always up to date

Drop a new film in the folder and it appears in the apps by itself — Hearth watches your library for changes. The app keeps itself updated, too.

Homelab friendly

Run it headless on a NAS with Docker and manage everything from a browser. The desktop app is optional.

QUESTIONS

The short version.

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?

No. Hearth streams directly from your computer to your devices over your home network. The only thing that leaves your machine is a title search to fetch posters and descriptions.

What do I need?

A computer that stays on while you watch (macOS, Windows or Linux), the Combust Media app on your phone or TV, and both on the same Wi-Fi or network.

What formats does it play?

Common video (MP4, MKV and friends) and music (MP3, FLAC, M4A and more). Hearth converts on the fly where your device needs it — subtitles (both .srt files and tracks embedded in the video) and multiple audio languages included.

Where do the posters and descriptions come from?

From TMDB, the community movie database. During setup Hearth asks you to paste in a free TMDB API key — creating one takes about two minutes, and the app walks you through it.

Windows says the app is from an unknown publisher?

That's expected during the beta — the Windows installer isn't code-signed yet. Click “More info” → “Run anyway”. macOS builds are signed and notarized by Apple.

Does it work away from home?

Hearth is home-network only for now — that keeps it simple and private. Remote streaming is on the roadmap.
